Core Beliefs
At Radiant Church, our beliefs are rooted in the authority of Scripture and historic Christian orthodoxy. While this summary is not exhaustive, it reflects the core doctrines that shape our teaching, worship, and mission.
Scripture
We believe the sixty-six books of the Bible are verbally inspired by God, inerrant, complete, and fully authoritative. Scripture is God's revelation and serves as the supreme standard for Christian life and church practice. (Psalm 138:2, 2 Timothy 3:14 to 17, Hebrews 4:12)
God
We believe God is one and perfect in holiness, and we worship Him as such. God is all knowing, all powerful, loving, holy, and personal. As the Ruler of the universe, all honor and glory belong to Him. God reveals Himself as the Trinity: three distinct Persons who are one in nature, essence, and being. (Ephesians 1:14)
God the Father
We believe God the Father is our loving Creator who expresses a fatherly attitude toward His creation. He is sovereign over all things and works all things according to His perfect will. He has an eternal purpose to glorify His name. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 6:9, Romans 8:14 to 15, 1 Corinthians 8:6)
God The Son
We believe Jesus Christ, God the Son, has eternally existed. Jesus came to earth, was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life. As the only human to live without sin, He perfectly fulfilled the will of the Father. As the perfect sacrifice for sin, He laid down His life on the cross and paid the penalty sinners deserved. Through His death and resurrection, salvation is offered to all people through faith in Him. Existing as fully God and fully man, Jesus reigns over His Kingdom and will physically return one day to establish it fully. (Isaiah 53, John 1:1 to 18, 2 Corinthians 5:19 to 21, Hebrews 1:1 to 3)
God The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit brings illumination and understanding, exalts Christ, convicts of sin, and brings new life through regeneration. At the moment of salvation, every believer is baptized by the Holy Spirit into the family of God and empowered by the Spirit to serve God's Kingdom. He seals every believer until the day of redemption, establishing eternal security. (Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 2:10 to 14, Ephesians 1:13 to 14, 2 Peter 1:21)
Man
We believe God created mankind in His own image, but through disobedience humanity fell into sin. Humanity is sinful by nature and by choice. Because humanity is fallen and sinful, all people are separated from God and unable to restore that relationship through their own works or good deeds. As a result of sin, every person is in need of a Savior. (Genesis 3, Romans 3, 1 Corinthians 15:19 to 22)
Salvation
We believe salvation is entirely by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. No one can earn redemption through works or moral effort. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, God offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who repent and believe. In salvation, God makes sinners new creations, justifies them before Him, and begins the lifelong work of sanctification. (John 3:3 to 21, Acts 2:21, Acts 16:30 to 31, Titus 2:11 to 14)
The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, carrying out the work of our King on the earth. The local church is a self governing body of baptized believers under the authority of God and His Word. The church observes the two sacraments given by Christ: baptism and communion. The church exists to worship God, make disciples, proclaim the gospel, and display the love of Christ in the world. Believers gather together to grow in grace and are sent into the world to carry out Jesus' command to make disciples. Churches should cooperate with other churches, denominations, and networks as a unified Body, working together for the sake of the gospel. (Matthew 16:15 to 19, Acts 2:41 to 42, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 3:21)
Last Things
We believe in the physical return of Jesus Christ. We believe the righteous will be raised to everlasting life and enjoy eternal fellowship with God, while the ungodly will be raised to judgment. After judgment, the ungodly will abide in eternal conscious punishment in hell. (1 Thessalonians 4:14 to 18, 2 Thessalonians 2, Revelation 20:1 to 22:13)
